Secret Garden cafes set to reopen within weeks

Recently closed cafés in Beverley and Cottingham will reopen in late June and early July after being purchased by an East Yorkshire businessman.

The sudden closure of Cooplands’ Secret Garden Cafés on Toll Gavel in Beverley and Hallgate in Cottingham earlier this year was a huge blow for dozens of locals and visitors.

However, the cafés are now set for a new lease of life after Christopher Smith announced he had acquired the Secret Garden and Orchard Cafes.

Mr Smith has announced his intention to reopen the Cottingham café on Monday 26th June, before the Beverley outlet opens its doors again on Monday 3rd July.

The move to reopen the cafes will create several jobs at the branches, with further job opportunities created through the local supply chain.

Mr Smith has said that under his stewardship, Secret Garden will focus on working with local suppliers, aim to promote regional products and support the economy around Beverley and Cottingham.

The businessman is hopeful that by working in partnership with neighbouring firms, his cafes will deliver high-quality experiences to customers whilst helping to grow the community.

“Our mission is to provide exceptional service, create jobs and strengthen our ties with the local community.”

Mr Smith has said he wants the cafes to become thriving hubs for locals and visitors, with an inviting atmosphere and a range of food.

He is optimistic about the prospects of his acquisition and the impact it can have on the region.
