Beverley Town welcome Sheffield Wednesday for pre-season friendly

Beverley Town FC have started looking ahead to the 2023/24 season after announcing the club’s pre-season schedule, which includes a friendly against Sheffield Wednesday’s Under 21s.
Dave Ricardo’s side start a run of fixtures at Whitby Town on Saturday 1st July, followed three days later by a home game against Winterton Rangers at East Riding Leisure Beverley.
Town host Bridlington Town on Saturday 8th July, whilst Goole AFC, Hedon Rangers and Hallam FC will also make the trip to Beverley.
The game against Sheffield Wednesday is on Tuesday 11th July and is likely to draw a large crowd to Norwood Park, with the Owls bringing some of their best young players to East Yorkshire.
The full pre-season schedule will run as follows:
Saturday 1st July – Whitby Town (A), 3pm
Tuesday 4th July – Winterton Rangers (H), 7:30pm
Saturday 8th July – Bridlington Town (H), 1pm
Tuesday 11th July – Sheffield Wednesday Under 21s (H), 7pm
Saturday 15th July – Goole AFC (H), 1pm
Tuesday 18th July – Hedon Rangers (H), 7:30pm
Saturday 22nd July – Hallam FC (H), 1pm
All home games during preseason, except the Sheffield Wednesday fixture, will be played at East Riding Leisure Beverley.
Town finished 11th in their first season at Northern Counties East League level and will again line up in Division One, which has been expanded to 24 teams for the 2023/24 campaign.
New opposition for the Beavers include relegated Goole AFC and Yorkshire Amateur, Clay Cross Town and Retford United from the Central Midlands League and promoted Louth Town and Wombwell Town.
The NCEL league season starts on Saturday 29th July.
