New Art Gallery curator ready to delve into Beverley’s history

Beverley Art Gallery has welcomed a new curator – Hannah Willetts.

Hannah has joined from her most recent role as a freelance collection coordinator in Scotland and succeeds Helena Cox who left East Riding of Yorkshire Council in December.

Hannah studied History of Art at the University of Leeds and has enjoyed a varied career, including working at the Hepworth Wakefield, a period on the valuations counter at Sotherby’s in London and time as an assistant curator at Glasgow Museums.

“The museums team is delighted to welcome Hannah to her new role as curator at Beverley Art Gallery,” said Nial Adams, museums and archives manager.

“I know that she will bring immense enthusiasm and great new ideas to the gallery, to help us build even further on its growing reputation as a centre for the work of the Elwells and as the host of a wide range of exciting touring exhibitions.

“I look forward to seeing Hannah’s programme for the gallery in 2023 and beyond.”

Hannah added: “I’m so excited to learn more about Beverley and delve into the art gallery’s collection, exploring the work of the Elwells and other talented artists.

“Beverley Art Gallery has a brilliantly diverse history of exhibitions and I’m keen to continue developing this exciting programme.
