The festival, suitable for all the family, has grown to become one of the most popular spring events on the East Coast. 

It will be held from 10am to 5pm, on Sewerby Cliff Top, featuring kites of all shapes, sizes and colours flying over Bridlington bay.  

Admission to the event is free and dogs on leads are welcome. 

Some of the world’s largest inflatable kites will take to the skies, from huge bears to swaying, slithering snakes, providing amazing displays for thousands of spectators. Alongside the professional demonstrations, the popular parachuting teddy bear drops will be back.  

Visitors can also participate with loaned kites during supervised sessions or buy their own from the kite stalls. 

Councillor Nick Coultish, East Riding of Yorkshire Council cabinet member for culture, tourism and leisure said: “We’re proud to support this festival, which is a landmark event on the East Riding coast and draws thousands of visitors to Bridlington.  We highly recommend residents and visitors attend and participate in the festivities.” 

Bridlington Kite Festival is organised by East Riding Council’s Visit East Yorkshire Events Team. It is one of the biggest annual events organised by the council and helps to boost the East Yorkshire economy.  The event is held in partnership with The Northern Kite Group, whose members provide kites and musical kite routines.

Please do not park on the grass verges, double yellow lines or in front of residents’ driveways.

No public parking in Bondville Model Village car park, Sewerby Hall & Gardens car park or Sewerby Methodist Church car park – customers only.

Disabled parking: designated disabled bays in Sewerby Picnic Car Park, spaces will adhere to Pay & Display rules, access to Kite Festival will be via grass, additional designated disabled bays on North Marine Drive.

Coach parking: there is parking for 30 coaches in Limekiln Lane Coach Park, Limekiln Lane, Bridlington, YO15 2LX. This is a long stay, 24-hour coach park, parking charges apply.

Land Train: iconic land trains run every 30 minutes from East Riding Leisure to Sewerby Hall & Gardens. There is a special stop next to the Kite Festival field. There is space for one wheelchair or one pushchair in the end carriage. Charges apply.

Pedestrian access: on foot along the coastal footpath from Bridlington, Sewerby, Danes Dyke, South Landing or Flamborough.
