A Hornsea vape shop has been ordered to close for three months after an investigation uncovered the sale of illegal tobacco, cigarettes, and vapes — including to children as young as 13.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s trading standards service secured a closure order against The Vape Shop on Cliff Road, with the order granted by Beverley Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 20 August, under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.
The shop must remain closed for three months, and any breach of the order could result in further legal action.
The closure followed an investigation that revealed significant anti-social behaviour linked to the premises, as well as evidence of the illegal supply of age-restricted products.
Councillor Lyn Healing, the council’s cabinet member for communities and public protection, praised the result. She said:
“This is a significant result for our trading standards team and a clear message to others engaging in similar activities.
We remain committed to taking firm action against any business found to be trading illegally, particularly those that put children at risk.”
