Here are some fun ideas for days out with the family this summer.

A new walking tour is reimagining the way visitors experience Beverley’s history, by pairing it with some of the town’s local flavours.

Beverley Bites is a guided heritage tour with a foodie twist, blending tales from the past with tastes from today’s local, independent producers.

It takes guests on a journey through the town, weaving together stories of medieval markets, monastic life, and Georgian grandeur with carefully selected food and drink stops that reflect the town’s character and community spirit.

“Beverley has always been a place where people came to trade, taste and connect,” said Emma Hetherington, founder of Beverley Bites.

“This tour revives that spirit, linking historic landmarks with local food and drink being made and sold here in Beverley and East Yorkshire today.”

Tour participants explore key heritage sites and uncover stories from Beverley’s past, while enjoying samples from local, independent cafes, bars and businesses.

Highlights include stops at centuries-old streets where merchants once sold their wares, visits to places with hidden historical gems, and the chance to meet some of today’s makers who carry forward Beverley’s tradition of craft and hospitality.

A Beverley Bites tour will run every Saturday from 12th July until 27th September, with private tours available on request.

It’s a perfect experience for history buffs, food lovers, and curious locals alike, offering a different way to discover the town.

There are seven food and drink stops in Beverley for guests to enjoy along the tour:

● Market Weighton gin supplied at Saturday Market by Northmen Spirit
● Homemade pies from Polly’s Cafe
● Best bitter from the Monk’s Walk pub
● A burger tasting platter from Junk Soul Smothered
● Ice cream from Gemini Chocolate

Guests also receive a ‘pack-up’ at the start of the tour containing a packet of Lister’s crisps, where potatoes are grown on the farm and turned into crisps on the farm.

Tickets for Beverley Bites cost £50 per person. The tour takes approximately four hours.
