Beverley Armed Forces Day 2025: Honouring Service, Celebrating Sacrifice

Beverley will once again proudly host its annual Armed Forces Day 2025, paying tribute to the men and women who have served—and continue to serve—in the Royal Navy, British Army, Royal Air Force, and associated services. Set in the heart of the historic market town, this year’s event will be especially poignant as it marks the 80th anniversaries of VE (Victory in Europe) Day and VJ (Victory over Japan) Day.

The commemorations begin at 10:00 AM with a freedom parade led by a military band featuring serving personnel, cadets, and veterans. Residents and visitors alike will have a rare opportunity to witness a proud display of military unity and community spirit.

Throughout the day, attendees can explore a series of military displays and exhibitions, featuring photographs, stories, and artefacts from major conflicts including World War I, World War II (Europe, Africa, and the Far East), the Falklands, Afghanistan, and UN peacekeeping missions. Personnel will be on hand to recount their experiences, offering a human perspective to the history being remembered.

Military hardware will also be on show, including Land Rovers, a SVR Recovery Truck, and other equipment used in modern operations. Cadet forces from all three services will be present, showcasing the training and opportunities they offer young people today.

The event will be further supported by military charities and veterans’ organisations such as SSAFA, The Royal British Legion, CESA, and the NGVA, who will be offering information on the vital services they provide to both active service members and veterans. Reservists will also be represented, highlighting the balance between military commitments and civilian careers, and recognising the employers who support them.

A key partner in the day’s activities is the Defence School of Transport, Leconfield, located just outside Beverley, bringing its expertise and presence to strengthen ties between the armed forces and the local community.
