A cut above! Rick and Zoe win top hair award

Rick and Zoe Roberts were crowned the North East’s hairdressers of the year at a glittering awards ceremony in London.

The country’s top stylists aimed to prove they were a cut above and the Beverley couple returned to their salon in Flemingate in Beverley with a regional title under their belts.

“I’m very proud of what we have achieved’ said Zoe on accepting the award.

“This is the first time we have put together a joint entry – it’s been a long time in the making but we’re really proud of ourselves for winning this.”

Rick added: ‘It’s absolutely incredible to see both our names on here – it’s a celebration of our brand and something we want to dedicate to our kids.”

Jayne Lewis-Orr, executive director of HJ’s British Hairdressing Awards said: ‘HJ’s British Hairdressing Awards are a celebration of the passion, artistry and expertise of some of our industry’s most remarkable talents.

“In winning this award, Rick and Zoe have demonstrated that they are accomplished stylists, with exceptional creative flair and technical expertise.

“The standard of entries this year has been phenomenal and they should feel incredibly proud to have been named as winners.’

Rick and Zoe were chosen for their outstanding expertise, demonstrated through a photographic collection of hair work, and pitted against the top six finalists from the North East region.

Winning the same category three times meant Rick was entered into the Hall of Fame 2022.

The awards ceremony took place at Grosvenor House in London’s Park Lane, where 1,400 hairdressers attended what is widely regarded as the ‘Oscars’ of the hairdressing industry.

The host for the evening was comedian Katherine Ryan, and during the ceremony, guests were treated to a spectacular performance by singer Professor Green.
