A new book celebrating Beverley’s quirkier side has now been launched ahead of Christmas.
The Quirky Side of Life has been compiled by Peter Lee, who has looked beyond the familiar attractions of Beverley Minster, St Mary’s Church and Beverley Westwood to uncover another layer of the town’s intrigue and character.
One definition of quirky is “unusual, especially in an interesting or appealing way”, and Peter’s book explores many of Beverley’s quirks, from distinctive buildings and historic events to pubs and unusual sights that can be spotted while walking around the town.
The book is illustrated with more than 200 colour images, accompanied by written explanations, snippets of history and poems.
Priced at £10, the book was officially launched with a signing event at The Beverley Bookshop on Butcher Row.
Copies are now available from The Beverley Bookshop, Murray Todd on North Bar Within, and Guest and Philips on Saturday Market, making it an ideal Christmas gift for Beverley residents and visitors alike.
All net profits from sales of the book will be donated to Help for Health, Two Churches One Town and the Beverley Civic Society.
