Council announces resurfacing scheme Willerby Roundabout
WILLERBY – A major roundabout in Willerby is set to receive a £230,000 upgrade this month as part of a planned improvement project by East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
The works will see essential resurfacing carried out on the Great Gutter Lane roundabout, which connects Beverley Road (off the A164), Grange Park Lane, and Great Gutter Lane.
To minimise disruption to motorists, residents, and nearby businesses, the work has been scheduled outside regular trading hours. Initial resurfacing will take place over three consecutive Sundays: 13 July, 20 July, and 27 July, between 4:30pm and 11pm.
These sessions will also include upgrade works on Grange Park Lane. During these hours, Grange Park Lane and Great Gutter Lane East will be closed to traffic. However, pedestrian access will remain available to the McDonald’s and KFC drive-thrus, with parking provided on Great Gutter Lane West.
Further works are scheduled for weekday evenings, starting Monday 4 August and continuing for around two weeks. These sessions will run from 7pm to midnight, Monday to Friday. During this phase, Grange Park Lane will remain open under three-way temporary traffic light control, while Great Gutter Lane East will again be closed.
All roads will reopen outside of working hours.
Councillor Paul West, cabinet member for environment and transport, said:
“This is a busy roundabout but needs to be upgraded, so we have purposefully timed our resurfacing during the evening to cause the least disruption. Thank you in advance to motorists, local residents and businesses for their cooperation and support while we finish these improvements.”
The project forms part of East Riding Council’s ongoing highway capital programme.
