A man has been charged with murder following the death of a man in Beverley.
The victim has been named as 44-year-old Matthew Phillips, who died in the early hours of last Saturday (4th January).
Timothy Tinson, 43, of no fixed abode, has been charged with murder.
He appeared at Hull Magistrates Court this morning (Tuesday 7th January), where he has been remanded to appear at Hull Crown Court on Thursday 9th January.
“We were called at approximately 1am by a member of the public following reports that a man had been seriously assaulted on Lairgate near to the junction with Saturday Market in Beverley,” said a Humberside Police spokesperson.
“Emergency services attended and a man was conveyed to hospital to receive medical treatment for life threatening injuries however he sadly died a short while later.”
Due to prior police contact, Humberside Police has referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
