Once again volunteers from Beverley in Bloom have been busy decorating Beverley Railway Station for Christmas.
This year’s theme is A Traditional Christmas, using colours of red, gold and silver with green provided by foraged foliage.
There are many displays, both inside and outside the station. Four decorated Christmas trees sit along the station approach and window sills are filled with foliage creations. Inside, along with more decorated logs sitting on window sills, the many wreaths which have been displayed in previous years have been reworked to fit the theme and displayed together they form lovely, traditional Christmas ‘trees’.
The real tree sits on the northbound platform hung with decorations made by local schoolchildren.
Large boxed displays, twig trees and foliage garlands complete the effect. Santa’s sleigh sits in the ticket office and two standard holly trees outside the office, lit at night time, to welcome rail users.
The group is pleased to welcome new members who have become involved after taking part in the group’s recent Big Bulb Planting days, funded by Do It For East Yorkshire.
Beverley in Bloom would like to thank Northern Rail for its funding for this event, Dave Ryley, community champion from the Tesco Beverley store, for Tesco’s donation of six small conifers. Amco Giffen, the contractors who have worked to replace the footbridge at the station, made a very generous donation of four new planters along the station approach and Coletta and Tyson Garden Centre loaned holly trees and supplied the large Christmas tree.
