Temporary Beverley Library has opened

Beverley Library, usually located in the Treasure House, has reopened today (Wednesday, 4th October) in its temporary home directly across the road in County Hall on Champney Road, following the closure of the Treasure House for the Transformation project.

The temporary library will keep the normal Beverley library opening times. All library services have transferred across to the temporary facility, and regular activities and sessions will resume later this month.

The Tourist Information Centre has already reopened in its new temporary location in the Customer Service Centre in Cross Street.

The £3.3 million Treasure House Transformation scheme includes a new customer service centre and enhanced library, and a new location within the building for the reference library, while the council’s registration services will relocate there from Walkergate House. There will be a new Changing Places facility, and Champney Gardens will also be landscaped.

The contractors for the scheme are Hobson & Porter.

To enable the transformation to happen, the whole of the Treasure House will be closed for approximately a year.
