A day to honour our Armed Forces heroes

After being held in the town centre over the last few years, Beverley Armed Forces Day will return to Normandy Barracks in Leconfield between 10am and 4pm on Saturday 1st July.

This year’s event is set to be bigger than ever, with people from across the East Riding being invited to attend.

There will be a wide range of activities and displays for all age groups, including families, with everyone invited to recognise the contribution made by the armed forces community and thank them for their services and sacrifices.

Members from the Navy, Army and Air Force, as well as cadets and veterans will be present.

There will be military displays and personnel recounting their involvement in campaigns from world wars, through to more recent deployment in Afghanistan.

A range of military equipment will be on display and visitors will be able to participate in several activities.

Various military charities and veterans’ groups, including SSAFA, the British Legion, CESA and the NGVA, will all be present to explain how they support active and veteran armed forces members and their families locally.

Reservists will host a stand to explain how they function, combining military and civilian life, and there will be displays from local employers.

Ample car parking will be available on site and it is hoped that transport will be provided to and from Beverley town centre.
