The East Yorkshire to East Turkey Aid appeal, which is largely being coordinated by Beverley businessman Ali Tekce, has thanked those who donated items for their support so far.
At the time of going to press, seven articulated lorries and three containers have been shipped to much-needed areas of Turkey, following the devastating earthquakes earlier this year.
After guidance from Ali’s family members, the focus has now turned to the young children who are orphaned.
The Toys for Turkey shoebox appeal has now been launched and organisers are asking for support from the people of Beverley and the surrounding area.
A shoebox style package can be put together containing one toy, an activity pack and crayons, along with some sealed sweets and a message to a child in Turkey.
The box should be identified as to whether it is suitable for a boy or girl and it can be dropped off at either Anatolia and Mirage, both situated on Wednesday Market in Beverley.
