Beverley Town’s unbeaten run ends as Brigg win eight-goal thriller

Beverley Town suffered their first defeat since the end of November as they were beaten 5-3 by Brigg Town.

After an unbeaten December, Beverley began 2023 with a win over Shirebrook Town and a draw at Retford.

Conner Harman and Joshua Batty fired Brigg into an early two-goal lead, but Alex Knaggs and Ollie Baldwin pulled the hosts level.

Owen Vincent grabbed a crucial third for the Zebras to put them back in front on the stroke of half-time.
That was the end of the scoring until the 90th minute, when Alfie Usher made it 4-2, then Beverley’s new signing Joe McFadyen reduced the arrears. And there was still time for Vincent to grab his second of the afternoon and make it 5-3.

Beverley boss Dave Ricardo said his side were outworked and bullied in the early stages but praised their character for fighting back.
