Rural Task Force Officers investigating the theft of a tractor worth 30K, which was stolen from a farm near South Cave, East Yorkshire, have recovered the stolen vehicle.
Police were alerted to the theft of the New Holland tractor on Friday 6 January.
The vehicle was fitted with a security tracking device and, following enquiries, the vehicle was located on Long Lane in Beverley.
A man was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle. He has been questioned and subsequently released as officers continue with our investigation.
Speaking about the recovery of the tractor, Rural Task Force Sergeant Kevin Jones of Humberside Police said, “This theft shows the importance for high value farm machinery to have trackers installed. For the relatively small sum of money, this 30K tractor has been reunited with its rightful owner.
“We do recommend farmers have these tracker devices fitted and this case shows their value. Farm equipment is not only extremely expensive to replace, but it has also has a detrimental effect on their ability to carry out the work they need to do on their farms.
“Installing a tracker device, reviewing the security of your farm and business and consideration of CCTV would outweigh the replacement costs of such expensive equipment.
“The theft of plant equipment is a crime which the Rural Task Force is working hard to tackle in our area, I would urge residents to stay vigilant and report anything that may appear out of the ordinary.”
