Beverley-based holiday home manufacturer, ABI, has announced a donation of over £6,170 to support Beverley families affected by the cost-of-living crisis.
The funds will be donated to Cherry Tree Community Centre and used to buy Christmas food parcels for more than 400 families in Beverley.
The packages consist of a whole chicken, stuffing, gravy, carrots, potatoes, sprouts, as well as mince pies, Christmas pudding and custard.
For those on a low income, a crisis – be it a recession, redundancy, benefit delay or an unexpected bill – can mean going hungry. In fact, nearly seven in ten people (67 per cent) are worried about being able to afford Christmas dinner this year amid the cost-of-living crisis.
Every day in Beverley, parents skip meals to feed their children, forcing families to choose between paying the rent and eating.
Thanks to community centres such as Cherry Tree Pantry, members are able to collect food weekly, along with a whole host of other support.
