Beverley Town will be hoping to claim the scalp of Bridlington Town when the sides meet in the East Riding Senior Cup second round next Tuesday (15th November).
The tie pits two of the county’s highest ranked teams against each other and it will be a case of friends reunited with a number of players having links to both teams.
Bridlington manager Mike Thompson joined the club from Beverley in the summer after guiding the Beavers into the NCEL for the first time, while his Beverley counterpart Dave Ricardo is a former Bridlington player.
The Seasiders also recruited Jack Griffin, Joe Norton and Daniel Finch from Beverley for this campaign, while the Norwood club have poached defender Matty Plummer and goalkeeper Rasmus Krisa from Bridlington.
A number of other players in both squads have represented both sides down the years.
Beverley beat Cherry Burton in the first round, thanks to a last-minute goal from Craig Muirhead, but have lost five of their last seven league games.
Kick off at Queensgate is at 7.45pm, with both sides hoping to take a step closer to the showpiece final at Hull City’s MKM Stadium.
Beverley Town slumped to their heaviest defeat of the season when they were beaten 5-1 at home by AFC Wakefield.
Billy Mole was the visitors’ hero, grabbing a hat-trick before Owen Kirman added two late goals to give the scoreline a convincing appearance. Callum Stone pulled Beverley level in the 53rd minute, after Craig Muirhead had missed an opportunity to level from the penalty spot.
