Fire crews pull out all the stops for Ukraine

Crews from Beverley Fire Station have raised more than £3,500 for the Disasters Emergency Committee’s Ukrainian Appeal after pulling a 14-ton fire engine around Beverley.

The challenge took place on 19th March, a lovely Saturday morning, and saw the firefighters from the New Walkergate station take on a route that went to Railway Street, Lairgate and Hengate.

The people of Beverley and the surrounding area came out in force and dropped money into donation buckets along the route, helping the firefighters amass a brilliant total for the appeal.

After the event, the weary firefighters were fed by staff at The Bay Horse in Cherry Burton.
