Molescroft Parish Council has been awarded £20,600 of funding to improve and increase its facilities, with a view to hosting national competitions.
The money has come from East Riding of Yorkshire Council as part of Commuted Sums from local housing developments.
It will enable the parish council to extend the current petanque pistes and build a new one next to the existing site to increase the capacity at Molescroft Petanque Club.
In addition to the £20,600 funding from Commuted Sums, Hessle Town Council will be contributing £2,196.40 towards the £22,796.40 project.

“With this expansion, the facility will be large enough to host national events and will allow us to expand the club to offer junior training sessions and more community sessions. We have also had schools express an interest in using the facility and learning the game.”
Cllr David Tucker, East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s portfolio holder for planning, infrastructure, and housing, said: “The award of these Commuted Sums provided by local housing developments as a condition of their planning approval is great news for Molescroft and the petanque club.
